The awful awkwardness and insecurity of adolescence is charmingly conveyed here. Water Lilies tells of tangled relationships between four attractive teens developing into a kind of bisexual love square.
One shudders to think what Hollywood would have done with this subject matter. Here it's handled with sensitivity, restraint and some superb, touching performances from the young cast.
