Review of Water (1985) by Peggy V — 30 Oct 2007
A beautifully shot, slow-burning drama exploring the plight of Indian widows in 1938 as Gandhi's influence began to take hold. The cinematography is magnificent, the story quite heartbreaking. The whole thing is carried along by an exceptional performance of its 7 year old lead, demonstrating the stoicism of children in the face of adversity, and some classic A.
R.Rahman songs.
