Review of Watchmen (2009) by Kamamura — 18 Feb 2019
This movie is like an old clown who could never learn to juggle rings and balls, so he finally decides to juggle words. Love, drama, death, humanity, destiny, inner conflict, ambiguity... and it all falls on the ground again. Words are no easier than rings and balls, it seems.
Suddenly, a young girl about the age of eight runs in, cone of ice cream in hand, and shouts at the clown: "Hey, Mister, you suck!". The movie desperately needs this brat, but she does not make it in time. In plain words - it's a pretentious, badly narrated, too long an attempt at pseudo-mythology from a nation that was deprived of one. Heracles will always be better than Superman.
