Review of Watchmen (2009) by Aldelo P — 17 Mar 2014
I decided to rewrite my review of this movie. Because I realized I was wrong in giving this movie only 2 stars. I originally disliked this movie because I thought it was boring and lacking in action sequences.
And one reason I really hated this movie was because I thought most of the heroes in this movie were monstrous and selfish. And I realize now that maybe that was one of the points that was to be realized about this movie.
It lets us look at super heroes that may have saved the day on more than one occasion, but despite their heroic deeds they're just as messed up and just as evil as the criminals they've put away.
This point was proven true in the scene when the comedian tried to rape one of his team-mates on the original watchmen team. And while the movie itself was boring I realize that I was wrong to judge it by it's entertainment value and forgot to judge it as a character study of sorts.
I think that this movie has some value because it broke the mold of the super hero genre that nobody has done well except in the movie Chronicle. Zack Snyder is a really annoying director, but I can't deny anymore he made one hell of a movie.
