Review of Watchmen (2001) by Fritz F — 29 Mar 2015
Gripping, Emotional, Dark, Gritty, and Fantastic. This is a Criminally underrated and misunderstood superhero film with such great style and punch to it.
The sets and production are fantastic, the directing by Snyder is perfect, and the visuals are spectacular.
The characters are well written and the important one's are developed just well enough.
Jackie Earle Haley gives one of the best performances in any comic book film.
The acting aside from that is still very good.
Overall, Watchmen is the most unconventional, complex, well made, and different comic book film to be made.
The Dark Knight is outstanding, but Watchmen is definitely a contender right below it.
It still angers me how under-appreciated this film was and all the unfair criticism it received.
Watchmen is a visual, intellectual, and gripping masterpiece that should not be seen as some "superhero movie", but as a real drama film with a dark story, themes, and depth mixed with fantastic characters and writing.
Upon rewatching this film, I have to say it is one of my favorite films of all time.
Simply wonderful, and I cannot forget it's brilliant opening credits sequence featuring "The Times They are a Changin" by Bob Dylan.
This film is incredible.
