Another film that has received a not so welcome reviews due to the expectation from the legendary comic book, and the fact that the style of the film coming too early for the time. Watchmen 2009 was a brilliant and beautiful masterpiece well written and slightly modified from the comic book to match the show time and to adopt the current audience's taste much like Batman Begin where it is not completely true nor accurate to the comic book but it was done so for modern era. The difference would be that unlike Watchmen, Batman has infinite number of different continuity that allow the director to play around with while Watchmen do not. The Watchmen film ending especially is very different from the comic book where in the comic, giant squid like monster attack the city but in the film that part has been removed completely to avoid the audience confused. The lighting, camera angle, tempo and storytelling was beautiful. Due to the story flashing in and out from past to present, it may confuse some audience but it never bothered me at the slightest. Though many audience and critics do complain that the film version do not adopt some part of the comic book however, they lack the fact that the format for comic book and film are completely different and different media requires different decision making to execute the best. The film is designed to best bringing in the Watchmen story without diluting or over flooding or wasting audience time by adding another few hours to the story telling. If this film was a trilogy or sort to contain every aspect of the comic book, then it might of received a higher rating but again that is not how critic or fans should review a film. Every film is contained to its own story unless it has a sequel and this film, Watchmen has done everything a director can to summarize the legendary comic book into one short film. I have not discussed about the characters or actors since they all have done a brilliant job and only add so much to the film. It is a must watch masterpiece and I can watch this film anytime, every time.
