Review of Wasting Away (2007) by Ruby H — 20 Sep 2013
What this low-budget zombie flick lacks in scares makes up in comedy. It never takes itself too seriously, even when the cliches show up it feels more like an honest tribute to the genre than any sort of directionless.
'Wasting Away' is a small production, but it is an energetic one. There's two point-of-views, in black and white, and in color. The jokes come in fast and they mostly work. The special effects are good, and the whole cast is into it.
Like I said there's not any scares but the gore is sufficient for an over '15' rating. The movie stumbles a bit when it moves out in the open towards the end, but not enough to subtract much from this surprisingly entertaining project.
B-movie fans will want this, horror fans will probably enjoy it too. The rest should stay away.
