Review of Wasted on the Young (2010) by Johnny T — 11 Oct 2011
Visually impressive, but the script needed a big angry red pen taken to it. Oh, and does every character need to shuffle around like they're in a My Chemical Romance video clip? The icy, stone-faced performances from an obviously committed young cast don't help matters. Sadly the plot falls short of its director's aspirations, and given his obvious filmic talents this is all the more disappointing. Part romantic tragedy, part ruthless thriller, Wasted on the Young is an impressive but ultimately unsettling cinematic experience. The true motives of this slickly filmed, yet soullessly scripted and acted affair are suspect, to say the least. If you do see the movie, ask yourself why it is set in such a privileged - arguably even non-existent - segment of society.
VERDICT: "Some Ole' Bulls**t" - Second lowest rating (Negative reaction). These films are truly terrible films. They are not the worst things ever made, but they are definitely awful and should not be seen by anyone.
