Review of Warm Bodies (2013) by David W — 16 Oct 2013
Warm Bodies is irreverently fun. Are irreverently fun? I forget which... but in a body of work such as this what matters is the quality of its braaains - and they are yummy enough to leave a pleasant taste in your mouth. It's hard to dig deep into the message of the film without giving away any of the plot, but what I will say is this - our humanity begins and ends in our hearts. None of societies hurts that have been built by cold hands will be healed by them, neither by technology, the weight of years or the supremacy of planning. As a species our only hope for peace is to respect life we do not own - which is to say - everyone else's.
Nicholas Hoult deserves a lot of credit for his genuine portrayal of confusion, certainty and his own pursuit of happiness that is littered with as much comedy as truth.
This is one plague you don't want to miss, now go get infected.
