Review of Wargames (1962) by Jeremy M — 27 May 2009
Ok after laying in bed thinking about the 25th anniversary showing, wargames represents a lot of what is great about movies. This is a perfect example of one of those films that is somewhere in the middle of critical/box office big and cult hit and it's really good on it's own terms.
I didn't even know there was a big fan following to this movie let alone one to fill a theater for it 25 years after the fact. When you see a movie that is from the early eighties you have to always see it in context to what the movie was back then.
This isn't true with war games, not once (besides a quick shot of floppy disk drive) do you laugh at how silly everything was. Dialouge, story and acting all hold up.
