Review of War of the Worlds (2005) by Man With N — 22 Sep 2013
War of the Worlds is a movie that gets worse the more I think about it. Everyone is a cliche archetype and it lacks what makes the book scarily intriguing. Tom Cruise and Justin Chatwin are horribly miscast and it doesn't help that Tom Cruise is a good actor. The special effects are great and so is the sense of adventure and survival, but its all ruined mostly by cliches and a horribly inconsistent tone. It ranges from fun to cliche to overly serious all too often. Either way, it's not recommendable.
4/10. Potential down the drain.
