War Horse is really old school, it's a kind of movie you'd expect to see in the fifties. A Lassie movie with a horse. As this horse is the most loveable animal of 2011, he thunders through the brutalities of WW1 to get back to his human pal who has also been drawn into the war.
Spielberg manages to deliver intense action scenes, gorgeous cinematography and some of the best war set pieces he has ever done since Saving Private Ryan. War Horse is a beautifully old school war drama that is sure to top the all time best lists of 2011.
