Review of War Horse (2011) by Chris S — 18 Nov 2012
Spielberg, with a lavish pallette and a deft touch, manages to hide plot inconsistencies and bathos with a deft tug on ones arm, changing scene and direction every time disbelief is beginning to raise its sceptical head.
As always his sets are strikingly and solidly constructed and the photography vivid and realistic (although I take the 'How Green Was My Valley' reference - in this case how green was my Devon.
But the unfillable plot hole was, how does a horse, requistioned at the outbreak of war, survive until the Armistice? A fairy tale set in a horror story.
