War for the Planet of the Apes is a worthy close to an exceptional new trilogy. It has a strong, stirring start that easily captures the viewer, but once it settles into the colonel's command base it does become a bit more conventional and harder to connect.
Other than that, the visuals and motion capture work are out of this world and Michael Giacchino's score adds a remarkable sonic layer. Taking everything into account, it's a better film than Rise but not as powerful as Dawn.
