Review of War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) by Varun M — 18 Jul 2017
War for the Planet of the Apes is the 3rd and final entry in Apes reboot trilogy.
Thank God that I read reviews and went in with different expectation.
Pros.
+ Unbelievably Realistic CGI Apes.
+ Mo-cap performance of Andy Serkis, Karin Kon oval & Steve Zahn.
+ The Haunting Opening Scene.
+ Haunting,Melancholy score by Michael Gianccino.
+ Breathtaking Cinematography.
+ Director Matt Reeves genius approach of Caesar's Journey (from Rise to War)as Biblical figure Moses.
+ The Concentration Camp (2nd Act).
+ (SPOILER Maybe?) The Reason why Humans are dumb.
+ The Satisfying Ending.
Cons.
- Slower pace and sometimes drags (which could bore some audiences).
- Not as Rewatchable as 'Dawn'.
- Misleading Title and Trailer (even though they are great, but really could dissapoint a lot of people).
'War' is solid conclusion to this trilogy. But Im sad that this movie gets a lot hate from audience. I suggest that people should give it a second chance to rewatch with different expectation.
Overall the Apes Reboot Trilogy is probably the fresh 'thinking man' Blockbuster movies out there and not afraid to take risks unlike any other franchise.
My final score- 8.4/10 or A-.
