Review of War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) by Douglas R — 19 Jul 2017
War for the Planet of the Apes is a very technically well made movie, with a number of great emotional moments scattered throughout, and there is an emotional truth to the story that feels undeniable.
However, it's not without its faults. The title feels deliberately misleading, and some elements of the plot strain credulity. In particular, some of the human behavior is incredibly ill-advised, which is especially surprising given that war has always been something that we are good at.
Overall, a good conclusion to the trilogy, but I fear it will not age as well as the creators might hope, and the strong emotional impression it leaves us with could be ruined if the creators choose to return with an unwanted fourth movie.
