Intelligently written and directed, as well as an Oscar worthy performance from Sir Andy Serkis, War not only exceeds levels for the Apes franchise, but for blockbusters as a whole, proving that not every scene must be a filler for the next action sequence.
It has heart, it has soul, and it has everything you'd want out of a cinema experience. As far as blockbusters go, this one is a masterpiece.
