Review of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010) by Gordon T — 16 Apr 2011
I waited roughly six months to watch this after hearing mixed reviews about it not living up to the original. And it really didn't. They got the "20 years later, this is what the Wall Street world would look like" part down pat - absolutely nailed it.
But beyond that, the film just seemed directionless. Even the major turning point of the film felt like it wasn't a huge deal, which was muddied even more by the half-assed ending. But the worst part for me was Gordon Gekko's daughter (Carey Mulligan) who kind of half-sneered/half-smirked throughout the entire performance, whether she was attempting to show anger, happiness, betrayal, whatever.
Having said that... Josh Brolin was fantastic in his role.
