Review of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010) by Sean D — 18 Jan 2012
I wanted this movie to be good. I really did.
I knew it wouldn't be the first "Wall Street." Not by any stretch. But, shit, this was bad. Not "Passchendaele" bad... but bad.
The direction is decent. Oliver Stone does a good job. I tend to accept he knows what he is doing behind the camera. I mean, look at "World Trade Centre." It sucked, yes, but the direction was still fairly decent.
The acting, again, decent. Michael Douglas is great. Josh Brolin plays a wonderful prick. Hell, even Shia LaBoeuf was not bad... yeah I said it.
But what fails majorly... is the script. Dear lord jesus and all that is good and holy, do I have a desire to find the person who wrote the script and punch them in the throat. The first "Wall Street" had balls, cahones, grit. WS2 is like a man after night of drinking whiskey trying to get it up. It is obvious that Stone didn't write this.
35% SHAAAAAAAAAAAMMMME. Only watch it you want to know how it ends. But other than that... EW.
