Review of Walking Tall (2004) by Paul H — 13 Aug 2008
This is another movie starring The Rock that will probably make most teenage males eager to pummel the next evil henchman they encounter. Weighing in at less than 90 minutes (actually closer to 80 if you exclude the credits), this film does not have an abundance of material in it, but what it does, it does well.
The Rock's toughness and no-nonsense attitude is once again very effective, and several of the fight scenes are excellent, particularly the scene in the casino. The actor playing the villain in this film also does a great job of portraying the arrogant rich guy you love to hate, which only adds to the awesomeness of seeing The Rock kick butt.
This film never really strays from a very simple formula and isn't terribly original, but it certainly delivers on a number of awesome fight scenes and is well worth a viewing.
