Review of Walkabout (1971) by Tex P — 16 Jun 2010
Nic Roeg keeps visual weirdness subdued a little in thus film, and dumbs it down for a more whitebread kind of audience. He doesn't miss, though. The subtle beauty in this film is everywhere - so much that it ceases to be subtle.
This film is classic, epic, political, beautiful, innocent, genius, controversial, etc. This is Nic Roeg's masterpiece, and should not be overlooked as another children's adventure movie. BTW I saw this movie as a kid, and it made such an impression on me that more than twenty years later, I can still remember watching it with awe.
