Review of Walkabout (1971) by Brian R — 15 Apr 2012
A beautiful film, rightly celebrated for its dazzling cinematography and as a parable about colonisation and "civilisation". Watching it last night I was struck by how extraordinary the soundtrack is too: droning didgeridoos, Stockhausen, Rod Stewart (I almost deducted half a star because of the pocket-sized tartan-bedecked balladeer but it would be petty).
And as John Hague says "A man who's tired of Jenny Agutter's norks is tired of life". 'Nuff said.
