Review of Walkabout (1971) by Andjela M — 16 Mar 2010
This is really great movie!it`s full of symbolic and hidden meanings, and although plot looks very simple, film goes much much deeper... this picture is slow, full of beautiful shots and that slow vibe of the movie goes all the way, until the end - there are no wicked and unexpected twists.
I`m fond of director of this movie,Nicholas Roeg ,this is his second movie. For the actors he choose mostly people who never acted before, for example little blond boy is his own son,and that goes really well with whole idea of the film.
.. someone will maybe say that this film is boring or too arty ,and that some of the scenes are confusing and not presented clearly, but I think that cinema form and meaning which this film is presenting,is what was important to director when he shot this and not the exact explanation of the story.
.. that is irrelevant I think. Moreover ,it is good when movie gives you something to think about ! enjoy!
