Review of Walk the Line (2005) by Mark S — 30 Jan 2015
So first off Joaquin Phoenix played Johnny great. From a guy who didn't sing or play guitar and to learn and practice all he did is phenomenal. One of the best musical biopic performances of all time.
Witherspoon got too much credit for her performance. Joaquin deserved almost every award. Now to the film itself, I was slightly disappointed. It focused too much on just June and Johnny. I know you cant get every detail but come on, Johnny started a huge forest fire and was incarcerated multiple times.
His career after the 60s was great too which was never mentioned and my biggest issue was he played San Quentin first!!! They made it seem like Folsom was his first prison concert. Look, either way Joaquin honored Johnny in the best way.
Of it wasn't for him the movie would've been an ever bigger let down.
