Review of Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price (2005) by Jamie J — 10 Jul 2011
An entertaining insight into the behemoth that is Wal-Mart. The main problem with this documentary is that it cannot help being hilariously one sided, there is no balanced argument here. No matter how true the arguments may be, and how evil a corporation Wal-Mart may be, they never get the chance to even speak for themselves. Instead the producers prefer edited stock footage from conferences, and adverts to get their point across.
I get it that there are these all American families that built up their own shops and even in once case a three store mini empire (hypocrite much?) but at the end of the day they just didn't seem to have a place in the modern sales driven world. And if the makers think Wal-Mart is the only company doing that kind of thing then they are very sheltered indeed.
