Review of Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price (2005) by Peter P — 07 Sep 2008
I have watched a bunch of documentaries in the last couple of years, some great, some terrible, this one was just ok. The source material, AKA Wal-Mart is a bad company, was interesting but not surprising. The figures and data show how much Wal-Mart cares about everything else but what they should, their workers and the public. Did it make me shake my head, yes, but I have worked in several retail stores throughout my years, and from what I have seen Wal-Mart is not really any different then any other retail chain store. Are they bad, yes, will I stop buying DVD's there for 5$, no. (Although I doubt that I wil find this movie in the 5$ bin anytime soon, but that is ok, cause I wouldn't buy it anyway).
On another note, the film itself suffered from very poor editing and sound production, many times I could not hear what the people being interviewed were saying because the ambient noise and overlayed music was too loud, it was just annoying.
