Review of Waking Ned (1998) by Lynda M — 20 Mar 2009
Im not sure how Irish humour will travel, a little like Guinness its never real till you drink it in Ireland. Still having lived and experienced the small towns on the coasts only then can one appreciate the subtlety and hillarity of the life style Ned and others have.
It is well made, with some memorable ad lib moments with Kelly and Bannen which I can watch again and again. David Kelly a househome name in Ireland was offered a large 5 year deal from a Hollywood company who were bemused when Kelly sent it back with some Irish bog soil attached (if you understand its meaning), as he prefers to stay as an actor rather a movie star.
Too right David.
