Review of Waking Ned (1998) by Sandra Rachel G — 17 Mar 2010
A fine, sweet, heartfelt film, with the wonderfully homegrown morality of the Ealing comedies ("Whisky Galore," particularly). It's not hilariously funny, or exceptionally weighty, but there's an emotional resonance and sincerity in the filmmaking and in the performances that makes it a much better and richer film than it might have been.
Plus the music and scenery are pretty irresistibly Irish.
