Review of Waking Life (2001) by Michael L — 10 Nov 2008
Like a fellow reviwer below, I was too tired the first time I watched it but wide awake this second time. You could say it woke up a little of the former philosophy major in me with some of it's inspired (but never too long-winded) talk of existentialism, evolutionism, morality, etc. and of course: the nature of dreams.
After watching the DVD extra of the original film on digital video, it makes one appreciate just how much the dazzling animation added to the film.
Definitely worth seeing, but it's key that you are in the right mood. There's not much plot to keep you grounded so yo uneed to just let yourself go, dreamlike, along for the ride with this highly interesting and experimental film.
