Review of Wake Up Sid (2009) by Avanti S — 03 Oct 2009
I actually liked the film. Yes, it is cliched and so predictable that you could even walk out during the interval and not miss a thing. Yet, the film brings with it a refreshing feel, just like rain on a sunny afternoon.
It is not pretentious and is thankfully bereft of that in-your-face glossiness that our films are so apt to include. 'Iktara' has now become the song-stuck-in-my-mind! Also, I never thought I'd be saying this, but Ranbir Kapoor has done a sincere job as Sid.
You actually feel his frustrations, his moments of joy and pain. And he IS looking dishy (only in this film OK? Not otherwise please!). All in all, you should watch this film - if only to discover the Sid in all of us and wake him up!
