Review of Wake in Fright (1971) by Lynda H — 01 Mar 2010
Every second of this film has you captivated. I don't know why other people watch films, but being totally captivated by what's on the screen is one of the reasons I do.
Even though this film is pretty hard to watch, it has a very strong message. I will let you watch it and figure out that message. From a respected bond teacher to a suicidal maniac with a gun, this film really shows the dark side of the Australian lifestyle in the outback. Gary Bond gives a very convincing performance as John Grant, the well mannered and polite teacher, whose voyage through alcohol and depression is definitely one to witness. Some scenes will make you flinch, but this controversial film is a definite for all you movie lovers.
