Wow, very well directed and extremely provocative. I also read the book. As engaging, compelling, maddening, depressing, inspiring and enraging as it is I cannot help realize the impossibility of making a truly objective documentary - each one has a murky underbelly of propaganda.
The movie leans heavy on the teacher's union, but the book does give some time to the union to offer a defense and both do a good job of describing what a complex problem it is and how important that at least a dialogue take place to address some serious flaws.
