I feel for the students profiled in this propagandistic documentary. The accusations levied against schools and teachers are simplistic, one sided and harsh. The solutions offered are equally simplistic and doomed.

I say this as an educator who toiled in urban schools before, during and after this fantasy pic. Nine years later "Superman" and it's scapegoating of people and false solutions have been borne out.

Teachers are leaving in droves and few college grads want the thankless job of teaching. Good job, guys! Oh yes. And schools are still broken and children are still not learning.
