Review of Waiting for "Superman" (2010) by Elizabeth S — 09 Dec 2012
Until I saw this film, I could not understand the education situation in the US. It is a hugely bureaucratic and redundant system that favors the idea that these teachers have a right to their jobs, despite their inadequacies and offenses.
The system works pretty much like the Catholic Church harboring its pedophile priests, in that the redundant or non-performing teachers merely get bandied around districts-- with full pay and benefits mind you-- and cannot be fired due to tenure.
The exposition may have been a bit clunky, but still this is a good documentary that everyone should see.
