Review of Waiting for Happiness (2002) by Marko O — 06 Feb 2009
It's visually great at times, the music tends to be lovely. It does manage to reflect perfectly the atmosphere of a Mauritanian village. The messy narrative or a lack thereof can get frustrating and yes, the movie does get a bit too slow.
It was an interesting watch and a great window into Mauritanian society I reckon, but it was really frustrating at times (the pace, the mixed up narrative and those few times that their accents were so jumbled that it might've been hassaniya and not french for all I knew, with no subtitles in sight).
