Review of Wait Until Dark (1967) by Alyssa N — 27 Feb 2008
This tension-filled thriller from the sixties is a reminder of when movies relied on compelling and unpredictable plots to create suspense instead of explosions and cheap scares. Audrey Hepburn is perfect here, and her character has just the right combination of helplessness and resourcefulness to make us truly care and worry about her.
The fact that we can see and know things that the blind protagonist cannot only makes her situation more frightening for us, and it adds to the intensity of the climax.
