Review of W. (2008) by Ben H — 06 Aug 2009
It was a good character study, however, I was expecting more from it. Don't get me wrong, Oliver Stone did a good job on depicting his life, what he went through, especially with his father, I just wanted more out of it.
For instance, I didn't know whether to laugh or take serious the scenes with Bush and his board of fellow politicians. Overall, I would get the gist of the scene but some parts were funny others were serious, so I wasn't sure if I was to be laughing at it at all.
That can be a minor point, my major thing with it was am I supposed to feel sympathy for this guy now, having seen what the driving force is behind his head? Or was that something just to explain what's going on, to see why a lot of people feel the way they do about him?
Josh did an amazing job depicting the character though. I will say that. But no desire to watch it again. If I get it on DVD it's just for collection purposes, probably wouldn't crack open the case.
