Review of W. (2008) by Glen A — 10 Oct 2009
Suprisingly, I didn't like this basically as the time line stopped around 2003 and it didn't cover as much as it should have. Sure, Iraq was an important part of the Bush presidency but I would have liked to have seen some stuff about the financial collapse, the outing of Valerie Plame, the 'black baby' push poll in South Carolina, the butterfly ballots and purging of African American voters in Florida, the Supreme Court decision that threw Florida his way, Swift Boating (and the 2004 election), the 2006 mid terms etc. In five minutes, I wrote heaps of stuff that could have been covered. Would it have made the movie drag? Potentially. But it was equally as important as Iraq. Ideally, the movie should have ended should have ended when Barack Obama took office or when the Iraqi journalist threw his shoes at him.
I was a little disappointed as well that while the actor who played Poppy Bush looked like him, he didn't really sound like him. I would have thought that there should have been some voice coaching done there.
But I guess this movie yet again reassured me, Dick Cheney is an evil bastard....
