Review of W. (2008) by Andy G — 10 Jun 2011
This was a good movie. Not perfect, as I felt that a few situations were definitely played up for the drama aspect, but overall I felt the movie did a good job of portraying George W Bush, and depicting that his decisions weren't quite as black and white as we all would like to think.
Josh Brolin did a fantastic job of portraying Bush, and I thought many of the other main characters were portrayed good, although a few of them seemed odd and didn't fit right. I didn't feel like the relationship between Bush Senior and Junior seemed authentic, it seemed very dramatized and unrealistic, but they had to add a bit of drama to the movie so I understand. Though I do find it odd that this film came out as early as it did, and not having the chance to detail much of anything that happened in Bush's second term.
Overall I give this film a 9.2/10*.
* I tend to rate movies higher than most people (sometimes even going over 10/10), simply because I tend to enjoy movies more often than others. To help put my rating in perspective, this movie scored better than approximately 71% of the movies I have reviewed since joining this site.
