Review of W. (2008) by Trevor H — 15 Dec 2012
A brilliant portrayal of W by Josh Brolin in which he successfully shows the former President's vulnerability and insecurity throughout his life, character traits that are rooted in his father's love and favouritism towards his son, Jeb.
We can discuss ad nauseum how much of this movie is true, but if half of it is, then it should have been called 'Disgrace'. It beggars belief that such a bufoon can ascend to such political heights.
The film also shows the divisions amongst Bush's staffs, most particularly the hatred that Cheney and Rumsfeldt held towards Colin Powell, including Powell's sale of his soul to the devil. I can't knock Oliver Stone for telling this story - it must have taken a lot of courage.
