Compared with "Broken Hug", "Volver" is a story with more twisted emotions built on love and affairs, the power to live and to destroy. It also indicates the past is to be repeated, but the outcome can be reversed or changed.

1) Raimunda was raped by her Dad and thus had Paula; Paula resisited the rape by Raimunda's lover and thus got him killed under the knife.

* Does it have other implication when Agustina meets Paula and always says " Paula, you have exactly the same eyes as your Dad's" ?

2) Raimunda's mom (Irene) set the fire to burn her husband and his mistress to ashes while Raimunda calmly placed the body in the freezer.

3) Raimunda's mom hid her identity under the disguise as "ghost" whereas Raimunda locked the shadow at heart and moved on.

4) Agustina and Sole both lost their moms. Agustina and her sister were like strangers but Sole and Raimunda still bonded like a family.

Two rapes, one succeeded with swallowed tears, one failed with strong struggles. Two bodies, one burned with Irene's rage of betrayal and one buried with Raimunda's disappointment at men's unmoral lust. Two runaway murders, one hiding in the dark and one living under the sun. Two siblings, one losing hair because of cancer and one making living as a hair stylest. How ironic is that !

It seems...

We volve, because we generalize the elements of life.

We evolve, because we learn from the history.

It's a slightly heavy movie but has a warm ending tone.
