Intense, gritty action film. The filmmakers do a nice job of creating atmosphere, with terrific action scenes set in the Pacific mountains. Stallone begins crafting his iconic action hero here, but what raises the original above the sequels is Brian Dennehy.
His small-town cop with a big ego provides Rambo with his best adversary.
