Review of Viva Las Vegas (1964) by Joel W — 27 Dec 2010
Not the best Elvis Presley movie that Ive seen. There's no real spark to it, feels padded & @ the end rushed. The best song is the title track & everything else is pretty forgettable. Elvis needs money for a new engine for a big race in Las Vegas & takes on a job as a waiter & even enters a talent contest.
Along the way he falls for Anne Margret. Margret was a hottie back in the day & it would have been nice to see her in a bikini. I was very lukewarm about this thinking that it was going to pick up when it finally got to the race but it hardly takes up any screen time.
Maybe Elvis should have been singing while he was driving. Personally I'll stick to Clam Bake.
