Review of Visioneers (2008) by Josh A — 24 Jul 2009
A little too pretentious and artsy for my tastes, although the world that this movie took place in was somewhat interesting. But the message of this film (that the corporate world seeks to de-humanize us and keep us trapped in our happy, sterile, consumer driven lives which are ultimately unfulfilling and soul crushing) was not delivered with any subtly.
Normally a good film with a message challenges you to figure out what it is and explains itself over the course of the movie, where as this film just spelled everything out for you during the first scene.
That made the rest of the movie run time a little boring. Zach Galifianakis gave a good, subtle performance, but do not look for him to do anything funny since this is a very serious, buttoned down film.
