Review of Vision Quest (1985) by Rodney E — 15 Oct 2008
Classic. Watch this before facing any obstacles. It's the same old story that we have seen again and again about an athlete trying to take on an unbeatable challenge but it works because it seems real.
Sure taking in Linda Fiorentino as a drifter is unrealstic but this movie somehow makes her little rleationship with Modine have merit. There is also a panty sniffing scene too so that has to count for something.
I just like Vision Quest a lot. Maybe its the fact that the dude from Sixteen Candles is in it and fronts like he is a Native American and admits its bullshit or maybe because the scenes where Matthew Modine trains and jams out to Lunatic Fringe are really effective.
Ronny Cox is good as the dad.
