Review of Viridiana (1962) by Rod A — 04 Oct 2008
Delivered with confidence and a skeptical eye directed toward its characters motivations, Viridiana presents a 60s era Spain stradling its medieval past and its modern, uncertain future. Several scenes reveal the primal urges of those who strive to present their best face to the world.
What's so refreshing is that Bunuel isn't preachy, he shows us his reflections on what he's noticed about the world. He definitely doesn't tell us how to respond.
