Review of Village of the Damned (1995) by Guido S — 04 Jan 2014
In one of the few movies mixing Star Wars and Superman, Mark Hamill and Christopher Reeves star in this remake where the town suddenly collapses and when everyone wakes up, all the women of age are pregnant.
They keep the babies and they grow up to be diabolical aliens who can control people and force them to kill themselves in weird ways. Unable to compare it to the original, this one has a good idea, but the believability of the town not doing something about it sooner is a little odd.
It starts to wear out its welcome once it lays out all the cards on the table. A lot of the cast is nothing more than fodder so the kids can wreck havoc. The ending is a little weird with the time bomb by Superman as he makes weird faces trying to block them from reading his mind.
