Review of Village of the Damned (1995) by Ken S — 03 Aug 2014
Remember when John Carpenter remade "The Thing" and it was this awesome creepy horror film with a cool premise AND great character development? Well in 1995 he decided to take another old horror film and update it, only this time he took a decent premise and didn't do it service and forgot about character development about halfway through the movie.
There is this moment where Christopher Reeve kisses this woman, and you can't figure out why at all...because the only reason they do that is because he is the leading man and they already killed off his wife.
Carpenter missed the mark on this one, because the cast is so-so, and the creepy factor feels diminished because we don't really care about anyone involved. This movie could've been good, but it just wasn't as good as I was hoping.
