Review of Videodrome (1983) by Mark M — 08 Mar 2009
A cable TV executive begins having bizarre hallucinations after viewing a video tape of sexual torture and apparent murder. The lines of reality become blurred and everyone around him seems to be involved in the mysterious braodcasts.
His masocistic girlfriend becomes obsesses with being on the "show." By the end of the film it feels like your on acid, or extremely confused. Some interesting and disturbing imagery is present, my personal favorite is the scene where James Woods sprouts a vagina on his stomach which a video tape is forced into.
Classic Cronenberg.
