Review of Videodrome (1983) by Michael G — 28 Jul 2011
When it comes to body horror, no director does it better than Canada's own: David Cronenberg. There many ways to describe this film: surreal, nightmarish, grotesque and fascinating. However, the film's theme about how the media is controlling our lives does seem realistic but television being the medium was in 1982 but nowadays its the internet which can be chilling.
I love the imagery and the special effects courtesy of Rick Baker. I wish David Cronenberg would do more body horror films for this generation. Along with Scanners and The Fly, Videodrome is simply one of Cronenberg's best work.
